Division Day is kicking off their tour with the A-Sides with a bang this weekend and they’ll be carrying along with them a couple hundred copies of their very own DVD!! The band has collected some footage from the archives including: backstage interviews, recording in the studio and some behind the scenes footage from their video shoot for “Tigers” and they’ll be offering it up DIY-style as a FREE gift with purchase if you buy Beartrap Island on the road!

But what happens if you’re not along the tour route? No worries! We’ll be putting up one clip from the DVD every day on their very own CHANNEL! We’ll also be uploading them around the web on imeemVirbmyspaceiLike, and all your other favorite places to watch and share videos of your favourite bands!

In true Eenie Meenie fashion, we told you we’d have some surprises in store for you for the lead-up to this release. Well here’s the scoop:

Each week, every Tuesday in fact, for the next 8 weeks we’ll be sending out one NEW previously unreleased cover song or remix from the boys in Division Day. Along with that, we’re sending out a section of the map of Beartrap Island (as drawn by Division Day’s own Rohner Segnitz)! By the end of October, you’ll have mp3s of several covers and remixes done by some of your favourite artists and a complete digital map! Beartrap Island will be released on iTunes on September 18th and it hits stores on October 2nd.

We have a page where you can direct folks to view the pieces of the map and listen to the releases.
Here’s the first cover — Every Shining Time You Arrive (originally by Sunny Day Real Estate):

Great Northern will be back home in L.A. for a few weeks, but they won’t be sitting around basking in the sun the WHOLE time. They’ll be playing the Hammer Museum tonight with Foreign Born for a special Indie 103.1 event! Then it’s possible they’ll get a little time to rest by the kiddie pool at this weekend’s Little Radio BBQ, after their set that is. The band will be performing at Summer Camp which starts at Noon and runs til 6, so there’ll be plenty of time to get home to watch Entourage. And if you’re near a radio between 9 and 10pm, check out the Locals Only show on KROQ where you might hear GN again! Then the band is off to tour with the Comas!

Scissors for Lefty are hot off their opening slots with The Smashing Pumpkins last week in Asheville, NC and they’re off and running towards several dates with Erasure in Florida July 6th, 7th, and 8th. Check out the rest of their tour dates on the right!

Division Day have been playing some special events lately, including Sea Level Records’ farewell extravaganza at Safari Sam’s featuring an all-star audience. The events they have on their schedule in July will keep them close to home as they prepare to release their record in October. Look for new music soon!

See you all at the Hammer Museum tonight!
