New York, NY (Sept. 1, 2010) – ETIENNE! is a gently offbeat comedy about appreciating, literally, the little things in life. Written and directed by Jeff Mizushima—one of Filmmaker Magazine‘s ”25 New Faces of Independent Film” and winner of the CineVegas “Director to Watch” Award—this sweet-natured festival fave makes its New York theatrical run with a week-long engagement, September 3 – 9 (see theater website for times).
With not a pinch of irony in his impressive mustache, soft-spoken eccentric Richard (Richard Vallejos) discovers that his best and only friend—a dwarf hamster named Etienne—has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Before saying farewell, Richard decides to show him the world on a wide-eyed bicycle trip up the California coast, along the way meeting a sympathetic pair of traveling musicians (indie rockers Great Northern), a pinhole camera enthusiast (I AM A SEX ADDICT director and WAKING LIFE co-star Caveh Zahedi) and a fellow lonely soul named Elodie (Megan Harvey).

Wallpaper. will be making five, count ‘em, 5! SXSW appearances this year. Among the other gigs, they will be part of the Bay Area Takeover show at the Beauty Bar on March 18, playing with a slew of notable Bay Area bands from all styles and flavors. Click that link above for a long list of the bands that will be there, bringing their Bay Area spirit to the streets of Austin.
After SXSW, they’ll be back in California, playing at The Casbah in San Diego on March 21, then at The Echo in Los Angeles on March 23. Here are all the dates:

Great Northern Acoustic show at Bootleg Theatre on 3/13
While they won’t be at South by Southwest, there is a lot going on in the world of Great Northern too. The band will play their first acoustic show on March 13 at Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. The info:

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010Last year, Los Angeles-based band Great Northern released the the fine CD Remind Me Where The Light Is, which, aside from setting a record for number of songs with one-word titles, cemented the band’s reputation for producing rich tapestries of melodic rock. They are led by the talented Solon Bixler, formerly of 30 Seconds to Mars, and lead singer Rachel Stolte, who has one of the best voices in the business.

Great Northern to headline Hollywood Brewfest

This Saturday, November 14th, Great Northern will headline the Hollywood Brewfest, which will be featuring over 35 breweries. Other bands performing include Dum Dum Girls, Deadly Syndrome, Castledoor, Nico Stai, The Diamond Light, and The Tender Box. Hollywood Brewfest takes place at the Henry Fonda Theater.
