Great Northern has just wrapped up their national tour of the U.S. with The Dears and Eulogies. They still have a few west coast shows lined up with She Wants Revenge. But after that, they head the United Kingdom for 4 shows. This is the first time the band is traveling abroad and none of could be more excited. Check out the dates to the right!
Yep that’s right. Wednesday, April 22 is your first chance to listen to Great Northern’s new album ‘Remind Me Where the Light Is’ before it is released!
This event will be going down at Malo, a Mexican restaurant on Sunset in Los Angeles. The address is:

We’ll be there hosting the listening party starting at around 8 and going until midnight. It’s free, but you have to RSVP by shooting an e-mail to rsvp@eeniemeenie.com. If you want to go to the party, then make sure you send an email and tell us. Otherwise you’ll be left out in the cold!

As the release date for “Remind Me Where The Light Is” draws nearer, Great Northern will be heading out on the road on a small West Coast tour with O + S (Saddle Creek Records.)

Our friends at Confessions Of A Would Be Hipster have put together one heck of a Christmas compilation titled Plastic Snow! The compilation features a ton of great LA bands, including our very own Great Northern.
All of the profits from Plastic Snow go to benefit Los Angeles’ longest running homeless shelter,Midnight Mission. Their stats for what they’ve accomplished in the last year (available on their website) are simply staggering, and we are honored to assist in fundraising for 2009. If you’re LA-based, consider taking a tour – it’s an incredibly humbling experience.

The last night of Great Northern’s tour with The Gutter Twins brings them back home to The Avalon on April 2nd. The shows have been wonderful and the band has really enjoyed playing all over the country with their new friends and seeing new faces at the sold out shows!
Their welcome home will be made even MORE fantastic when they appear on Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW! The band will be on the show the morning of April 1st and this is no April Fool’s joke…
They aren’t the ONLY eenie meenie band to be getting some radio love this month: Division Day played KCRW’s official SXSW showcase at Buffalo Billiard’s with The Duke Spirit, The Ting Tings and Jesca Hoop. They made quite an impression on Nic Harcourt who asked them on the spot to come down and do Morning Becomes Eclectic as well on April 16th! The band also played the donewating.com party with Joseph Arthur, the LA Independent Media party with The Mae Shi and their friends, The Henry Clay People, and a Waterloo Records in-store! The band will be popping by the KROQ studios as well to visit pal Kat Corbett just before their all ages show with Facing New York at the Troubadour on April 18th.
Wallpaper. played Hell Ya! this week on a special night which was co-sponsored by our pal Jeff Weiss of Passion of the Weiss. The digital ep comes out April 29th and there’s a number of L.A. dates in the works at some of your favourite weekly parties so keep checking back for more info!

Great Northern kicked off their tour with The Gutter Twins with a bang at two Bay Area shows last weekend with their own stand (and pre-tour preview) at Popscene and then a SOLD OUT show at Bimbo’s with The Twins.
Both bands were a hit among Noise Pop attendees and locals and it’s only making us itch for their return home for the show at Avalon in L.A. on April 2nd.
We’ve been listening to Saturnalia in the office and lemme be the first (on this site) to say it rocks!
Wallpaper. also made a splash at this year’s Noise Pop at the Rickshaw Stop. In fact, he dominated The Tripwire Day Four
The release of T-Rex will be April 29th, so keep checking back for more news and info about tour dates!
Ok, so why did we push back the release? SO many reasons, but the most important one is the badass gift with purchase we’ll be revealing to you very shortly. We promise the pretty artwork and the *secret surprise* will be worth the wait, but if you can’t wait that long to hear the songs, you can always head on over to iTunes and get yourself the digital copy.

After a successful debut online only, Great Northern will make their prequel ep, Sleepy Eepee available to hold “in your hands” on Feb 19th. The digital version can be purchased online now on iTunes, but if you want to tear open the shrinkwrap around the CD you’ll get your chance very soon.
