This week Eenie Meenie will be heading east for two shows: Irving will be at the Echo Plex on Thursday, August 16th for a FREE show with friends, Midnight Movies for their first area appearance since their European tour. Come early because this show will be PACKED. The doors are at 8pm. Division Day will be playing the Bates Stage at Sunset Junction, the area’s annual street fair which hosts the best indie bands on three stages over two days. The band goes on Saturday afternoon around 12:30. Sunset Junction features Ben Harper, Blonde Redhead, Autolux, The Broken West and many others. Great Northern is winding up their tour with the Comas tomorrow in Seattle and they’ll be back for a short while before heading out on the road again. You can catch them on the air on KEXP with Kevin Cole at 3pm PST on Tuesday, August 14th. Goldenboy is in the midwest this week still on tour with The Rentals and Copeland. We’ll have some pics soon! We’ll see you at the shows this weekend!

Hey there, did you catch Great Northern‘s CD release show at The Echo last Tuesday? It was fantastic! (Unless you were stuck outside in the huge line, in which case it was still fantastic after you got IN.) A big thank you to everyone involved: KCRWRadio Free Silver LakeRock Insider, The Movies and Twilight Sleep, as well as everyone who came and had a good time. The band sounded great! And best news of all is that Trading Twilight For Daylight is now available in stores everywhere and “Home” is “Single of the Week” on iTunes! (It was also “Song of The Day” just recently on Seattle’s KEXP!)

If you missed the show (how awful), don’t despair, we’ve got you covered – Great Northern is also playing an all ages show at The Troubadour with Loney, Dear on 5/30! Hope you can make it! In the meantime, you can catch a podcast/video clip on their KCRW “Morning Becomes Eclectic”live session.

So now we’re all excited about Scissors For Lefty‘s Underhanded Romance, in stores 6/12 and on iTunes 5/29! (But of course you can preorder it from us now, complete with really cool scissors charm and autographed poster! Don’t ever say we don’t do nothing for ya.) You can celebrate with them (and us) on 6/13 at L.A.’s Knitting Factory, with Lemon Sun and Something For Rockets, presented by KXLULos Anjealous and Imeem. (What can I say, we got a lot of friends.) Or you can catch them on 6/15 at San Francisco’s Independent, with Lemon Sun and Maldroid, also presented by Imeem.

Until then you can get your fill from the band’s new EPK and fun little ecard. A hilarious new video for “Lay Down Your Weapons” is in post-production at Sharp-Ford, so we’ll keep you posted!

For fans of Goldenboy, Shon and co. are currently spreading cheer with talented Chris McFarland. And they’re also hitting the road with The Rentals this summer! First up is a Saturday night residency at Spaceland in July. Preorder your tickets now because the first night is sold-out already, and the rest are going fast!

And last but certainly not least, Irving has been updating their video tour blog from Germany! Check it out here. Amazing how those guys can keep making us laugh, from all the way across the world. We do miss ‘em!

Releasin’ Parties

Hello! Did you notice the German dates for Irving to the right, there? That’s right, it’s the big launch! Irving leaves for Germany on May 6th and we think they’re gonna have a blast. Wish them luck! Unless, of course, you’re German, in which case, go catch a show!

In other news, guess who got added to Indie 103.1‘s rotation?? Great Northern, with their single, “Home“! Please help out and request it! (Online here or by phone at 877-900-1031). It’s just in time too because the Great Northern release parties are coming up in San Francisco and Los Angeles! So if you’re in the Bay Area, come out to Popscene on 5/10, and if you’re in L.A. you have no excuse not to be at The Echo on 5/15 – it’s free and presented by 89.9 KCRW,Rockinsider and Radio Free Silverlake! Twilight Sleep and The Movies will be there. And oh, by the way, it’s FREE.

*And did you know you can now pre-order Great Northern’s Trading Twilight For Daylight from our webstore?? Go here and have fun choosing between two presale packages!

A few release parties for Scissors For Lefty are not too far away either, folks, so don’t you worry. (In fact, go ahead and mark 6/13 on your calendars now, for The Knitting Factory in Hollywood.) But they’ve got several parties scheduled for May and June, so we’ve got you covered the next couple months. In Goldenboy news, the band is hitting the road with Chris McFarland next month as well, so everybody is busy busy.

It’ll all be okay though. Just pace yourself.

Wow, SXSW was quite a trip! Our showcase with Five One Records was packed, full to capacity, so the poor, harrassed door ladies at the Soho Lounge had to stop letting people in. If you were anywhere wandering around Austin, you may have had a charming little Eenie Meenie slap bracelet slapped upon your wrist by one of us. We were running around promoting not only the showcase but also Scissors For Lefty‘s and Great Northern‘s many shows during the week. Not to mention running into some famous individuals, a la James IhaWayne CoyneDennis Miller, and Paul Simonon!! Nice!

Check out our nifty Imeem photo playlist for some of the fun.

Now we’re back, but Goldenboy, Great Northern, and Scissors For Lefty are out there on the road, giving you more and more opportunities to catch them in a town near you. (We personally think Scissors For Lefty don’t sleep.) Keep an eye on everyone’s tour dates! Great Northern also recently shot a video with Josh Forbes for “Home” which we should have some stills from pretty soon! There’s going to be some haunting animation in this one, so we can’t wait to see the final version.

Not to be outdone, Irving had a nice little chat with Go TV you might want to check out here. And Scissors will be on Artist of the Day on Mania TV today at 1pm and 5pm (Pacific time). You know you want to watch!

Running with Scissors

Hello! San Francisco’s charming Scissors for Lefty are now officially a part of the Eenie Meenie team! Did you catch them at the Troubadour on the 28th? They’re such nice boys (aside from seriously rockin’). They are hitting the road quite a bit before and after SXSW, so now is your chance to see them. Check out the GIGANTIC list of shows we got going on, not even counting SXSW!! Our heads are in a bit of a whirl…

On top of that, we have some more fun stuff from Steven Scott’s adventures in Germany. Check out their myspace blog to watch some cool video footage of acoustic performances and interviews. (And read some badly translated German…) We especially like Steven’s take on “Jen, Nothing Matters To Me”. Irving will head out there on tour in May, so we’ll let you know when the dates start coming in.

Are you on the massive guest list for Great Northern‘s Viper Room show tonight? The band sent out an email blast inviting everyone, thanks to Indie 103.1‘s Check One…Two. Great Northern played on the show last night with Mark Sovel and also have a little blurb posted about them on Indie 103.1′s main page so we expect to hear a few more spins of “Home” pretty soon! In the meantime, be sure to watch their lovely new EPK.

Gearing up for SXSW

Hey there! So both Irving‘s Steven Scott and Great Northern have returned home safe and sound from their travels. Danke to everyone who tuned in to the German shows and websites to listen to or vote for “Jen” and “Situation”.

And thanks to everyone who showed up to see Great Northern play with Division Day! The two will share the stage again this coming Monday the 12th, at Spaceland, so come hang out with us and catch two amazing bands together for free. If that’s not exciting enough for you, Goldenboy will also be at Spaceland, this Saturday the 10th, with Sarah Shannon (you remember Velocity Girl). Both bands are getting ready to head out to Austin next month for good ol’ SXSW, and we are getting excited about our showcase with Five One Records on the 14th! Are you coming? Click on the flyer for details:

Speaking of SXSW, have you met our friends Scissors for Lefty? Dance/pop/rockin’ San Francisco lads on Rough Trade, they are stopping to play our showcase in the midst of their tour. Check them out if you are anywhere near.
