Eenie Meenie Celebrates Our 10 Year Anniversary

Friday, December 11th, 2009

It comes with a link to download this Eenie Meenie compilation full of unreleased and rare tracks. Only 200 are available. Pick it up over at our store for only $10.

Artsy Fartsy

Hi there! Any plans next Thursday, the 21st? No? If you’re in L.A., we have an idea… Virgin Megastore presents Third Thursday, a new FREE concert series, held in the courtyard at Hollywood & Highland. The shows are all ages and include art shows and refreshments, so it should be a pretty fun event. The 21st will have Irving (hooray!), Monsters Are Waiting, and The Oohlas on the stage, with art by Sage Vaughn, so please come out! Sponsors also include good oleIndie 103.1.

Speaking of artsy events, on 9/19, The Faraway Places are gracing us with a night at Spaceland entitled Psychotropic Earth, the proceeds of which will go towards the Natural Resources Defense Coalition and the Young Progressive Movement. Also playing are Lavender Diamond and The Moon Upstairs, with a lighting installation by Heavy Rainbow Siteshow. Groovy, man. Groovy.

In other Irving news, you may have noticed we have some new tour dates posted for next month and November! Hopefully they’ll be blazing through a town near you. Oranger will be rocking out in their hometown this month for a Big Star Tribute and a rock photography book release (with X’s John Doe!), so make sure you catch one of those nights if you’re up near ‘Frisco.

Not to be outdone by matters of distance and time zones, PINE*am have launched a podcastsure to buzz with deep thoughts and lively chatter in delightfully broken English. Be sure to check it out!

Golden Days

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

43Hi hi. So if you’re anything like us, you’re probably counting down the days till Goldenboy‘s new album Underneath the Radio hits stores too. With a release date of 10/3, we won’t have to wait too long! In the meantime, amid all the Irving madness, we’d like to remind you of our delightfully retrospective release Space Needle, still on a high from Magnet’s nice little reviewand airtime on Indie 103.1′s Dead Air. If any song has the perfect lazy, late summer sound, it’s gotta be the excellent track “Before I Lose My Style”. With other favorites like “Never Lonely Alone” and “Sun Doesn’t Love Me”, the album’s a must-have.

New shows are always fun – Seiko and Salome are hitting up The Rickshaw Stop on Sept. 2nd with The Bright Lights for all our lucky Bay Area fans. (Man, you guys have Mario and Oranger!) Speaking of which, Oranger is in the midst of their residency at Hotel Utah, so if you missed them last week, make sure you catch them this Friday, the 18th or next Friday, the 25th.

Tonight Irving heads out to Anaheim (that’s right, Anaheim) to party with The Rentals one more time! New fall tour dates are in the works for the Irving guys, as well as Goldenboy, so make sure to check back. See you soon!

Hi! First of all, has anyone caught Irving‘s title track from Death in the Garden on that new Totinos Pizza Rolls commercial? We were tickled pink when we saw it – check it out here. In other Irving news, (and we like our Irving news), the boys are now playing with The Rentals at The House of Blues in Anaheim, August 15th! The Rentals and Irving, Irving and The Rentals – do you think we should separate them? Maybe it’s unhealthy. …Nah.

In the meantime, if you are at The Echo this Friday (the 4th), you will certainly find us there, rocking out to Oranger on the L.A. stop in their mini-tour. Won’t you please join us? They will be in awesome company with The Gris Gris, Parson Redheads, and Upsidedownband. If you find yourself up in the central part of our great state instead, you can catch them on Thursday in Fresno or Saturday in Visalia.

Rounding out our line-up, Seiko and Salome head across the bridge to the Stork Club in Oakland on August 6th and Blue-Eyed Son returns to Abbott’s Habit on the 11th. See? We’re keeping busy! We’ll keep it up, we promise.

Space Needle: Recordings 1994-1997 has arrived! The fuzzy dream that was influential 90s band Space Needle has been remastered and repackaged just for you in this fascinating compilation of the best of Space Needle’s two best known albums. Space Needle: Recordings 1994-1997 also includes rarities, unreleased tracks, and a video for “Before I Lose My Style.” So grab a copy and zone out with us! A new official site for the band has also been created, so please drop by www.spaceneedlemusic.com when you have a chance.

“a slow-moving ballad with overtones of the Velvet Underground and Pavement. Singer Jud Ehrbar shrugs off the song’s titular refrain with slacker elegance, and the song’s accompanying synth-’n'-feedback symphony eventually engulfs his existential angst.” - Entertainment Weekly.com, on “Before I Lose My Style”

“Thick guitar rock, improvisational noise, minimalist recording and feedback manipulation… Hudson Bell, Black Dice, Minus The Bear…eat your hearts out and meet your granddaddies.” -The Aquarian

Meanwhile, there are plenty of Eenie Meenie shows coming up, so there’s no need to sit at home and twiddle your thumbs. First off, Oranger will rock out at Parkerzalooza at 12 Galaxies in San Francisco on June 16th, with another nice line-up: Kelley Stoltz, Enablers, Scott Mcaughey (Young Fresh Fellows/Minus 5/R.E.M.), Spiral Stairs (Pavement/Preston School of Industry), Ezee Tiger, Cheetah Speed, (ex Zen Guerilla).

Next, Irving will open for The Rentals Return show at The Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on July 7th! This should be a really exciting show (you know you rocked out to “Friends of P” in the 90s), so buy your tickets now. It’s ALL AGES, folks!

Soon to come: Irving plays Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco with Say Hi To Your Mom (July 28)! Several Oranger shows in August! Why not bookmark our shows page? See you real soon!
