Hey there! So both Irving‘s Steven Scott and Great Northern have returned home safe and sound from their travels. Danke to everyone who tuned in to the German shows and websites to listen to or vote for “Jen” and “Situation”.
And thanks to everyone who showed up to see Great Northern play with Division Day! The two will share the stage again this coming Monday the 12th, at Spaceland, so come hang out with us and catch two amazing bands together for free. If that’s not exciting enough for you, Goldenboy will also be at Spaceland, this Saturday the 10th, with Sarah Shannon (you remember Velocity Girl). Both bands are getting ready to head out to Austin next month for good ol’ SXSW, and we are getting excited about our showcase with Five One Records on the 14th! Are you coming? Click on the flyer for details:
Speaking of SXSW, have you met our friends Scissors for Lefty? Dance/pop/rockin’ San Francisco lads on Rough Trade, they are stopping to play our showcase in the midst of their tour. Check them out if you are anywhere near.

Hi there! Any plans next Thursday, the 21st? No? If you’re in L.A., we have an idea… Virgin Megastore presents Third Thursday, a new FREE concert series, held in the courtyard at Hollywood & Highland. The shows are all ages and include art shows and refreshments, so it should be a pretty fun event. The 21st will have Irving (hooray!), Monsters Are Waiting, and The Oohlas on the stage, with art by Sage Vaughn, so please come out! Sponsors also include good oleIndie 103.1.
Speaking of artsy events, on 9/19, The Faraway Places are gracing us with a night at Spaceland entitled Psychotropic Earth, the proceeds of which will go towards the Natural Resources Defense Coalition and the Young Progressive Movement. Also playing are Lavender Diamond and The Moon Upstairs, with a lighting installation by Heavy Rainbow Siteshow. Groovy, man. Groovy.
In other Irving news, you may have noticed we have some new tour dates posted for next month and November! Hopefully they’ll be blazing through a town near you. Oranger will be rocking out in their hometown this month for a Big Star Tribute and a rock photography book release (with X’s John Doe!), so make sure you catch one of those nights if you’re up near ‘Frisco.
Not to be outdone by matters of distance and time zones, PINE*am have launched a podcastsure to buzz with deep thoughts and lively chatter in delightfully broken English. Be sure to check it out!
