Los Angeles-based indie rock band Great Northern has now finished recording their follow up LP to "Trading Twilight for Daylight." The new album, entitled "Remind Me Where the Light Is," will be available on April 21, 2009. Until then, we are going to countdown the days until the record's release, and broadcast video and audio updates on our Podcast.

Back in April, Oakland club destroyer Wallpaper. dropped their T REX ep - a five song batch of bump and artistry. T REX, a platinum-meets-polyester release, carved new ground even as it paid tribute, and promised to tweak perception throughout. This glitz 'n' grit champion of the groove has since become a gilded name in the underground, wooing crowds with a computerized croon, live reinventions of R&B classics, and tales of excess in the Information Age. Wallpaper. has blown spots alongside such notables as LCD Soundsystem, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, The Lovemakers, Dan Deacon, Erol Alkan, LA Riots, Electric Soft Parade, and more. On December 23, the T REX ep will be re-released in new form, as T REX RMXd. Enlisting the help of friends Andrew Maury of The Remix Company, Bomarr of Restiform Bodies (Anticon), and Brooklyn-based Skabb to remix the ep, Wallpaper. breathes new life into the songs that earned them the SF Weekly Music Award in the Dance/Electro category. Great Northern Featured On Holiday Benefit Compilation

Our friends at Confessions Of A Would Be Hipster have put together one heck of a Christmas compilation titled Plastic Snow! The compilation features a ton of great LA bands, including our very own Great Northern. All of the profits from Plastic Snow go to benefit Los Angeles' longest running homeless shelter, Midnight Mission. Their stats for what they've accomplished in the last year (available on their website) are simply staggering, and we are honored to assist in fundraising for 2009.
